ジュピターとジュノー:『フルティ・ディ・ジョーヴェ』タペストリーのための習作

ラファエロの才能豊かな弟子であるペリーノ・デル・ヴァーガは、16世紀に活動した最も重要で影響力のある画家のひとりでした。この丹念に描かれた習作は、ジュピターとジュノーが寝台に横たわっている場面で、現在は失われている一連のタペストリーのためのデッサンです。《フルティ・ディ・ジョーヴェ》と呼ばれたこれらのタペストリーは、ジュピターの逢い引きを題材としています。デル・ヴァーガが1520年代末期から1530年代に仕えた、海軍の英雄でジェノヴァの提督だったアンドレア・ドーリアの注文で作られました。巨大なスケール、完成度の高さ、そしてインク、絵具のウォッシュ(淡彩)、白色のハイライトの豊かな組み合わせが印象的なこの素描は、デッサンに長けたこの画家の技量を示す傑作です。
