聖アンナと聖母子

デューラーはヴェニスへの旅で現地の画家出身のジョヴァンニ・ベリーニの作品に出会い、 魅了されました。この作品の、眠っている幼子のキリストを愛情に満ちたまなざしで見つめる聖母のモチーフは、ベリーニの絵にヒントを得たと思われます。ふたりを見守るのは、ド イツで特に崇敬された聖母の母、聖アンナです。聖アンナのモデルとなったのはデューラーの妻、アグネスでした。この作品は個人的な祈祷用の絵として描かれたものです。
