聖母子

この美しく保存された板絵及びレーマン・コレクションの《聖アンサヌス》と《聖アンデレ》(当館蔵)は、シエナの市民政府が総督邸で使用するために注文した5連祭壇画の一枚でした。シエナの総督は、6ヶ月の任期があり、総督邸はその期間貸し出されましたが、時折別の家がそれに充てられることもありました。この祭壇画は、中央の《聖母子》の板絵が左右のパネルと同じ寸法であることが通常と異なっていますが、そのため容易に折り畳むことができ、別の邸宅へ持ち運ぶことができました。シモーネによる5枚の板絵はすべて、後年シエナの市庁舎だったプブリコ宮殿の礼拝堂の大きな祭壇画に組み込まれました。
