センウセレト3世顔面

センウセレト3世の彫像の顔面部分からは、このファラオの名を冠したスフィンクスとは全く異なる様子が伺えます。スフィンクスでは肉付きのよかった顔は、ここでは疲れたように見えますが、同時に新鮮で精気を感じさせます。スフィンクスの目はアーモンド型で小さく、威嚇的ですが、顔面彫刻では下を向いて内省的な表情となっており、眉間の深い皺がその印象をより強めています。そしてさらに、下向きに垂れた口の端が苦々しい印象のスフィンクスに対し、この珪岩の作品は温和で包容力のある表情をしています。
