デンドゥール神殿

デンドゥール神殿は、アメリカ政府がヌビアの遺跡保護を支援した感謝の印として、エジプト政府からアメリカに贈られたものです。神殿は、解体されなければアスワン・ハイ・ダムによってナイル川に水没する運命にありました。他の大規模な神殿と比べて小型ですが、デンドゥールには神殿に欠かせないすべての要素、つまり、門戸、柱廊のある入り口(プロナオス)、供物部屋、そして至聖所が備わっています。柱頭には植物のモチーフが施され、壁の浮き彫り彫刻にはファラオ(この場合はローマ皇帝アウグストゥス)がプヌブスのトート神などの神々にぶどう酒を捧げている様子が描かれています。
