ドレス
付け替え可能な胴衣がふたつあるこのアンサンブルのドレスは、高級な衣装には珍しい実用性を兼ね備えています。現存するドレスの逸品の多くは、日中とディナー用、またはディナーと夜用のふたつの胴衣が用意されています。何枚ものこわばったペチコートの上に幾重にもフリルが重なり、大きく膨らんだ釣鐘形のスカートは、1850年代に流行したスタイルでした。この作品の製作時期は推測できますが、制作地を特定することは容易ではありません。当時は最新のスタイル画が広く流布したため、パリ発信のスタイルでも、適切な布地さえ入手できれば、どこでもすぐさま複製を作ることが可能でした。
