사자 머리 모양의 헬멧
지금까지 내려오는 르네상스 시대 갑옷의 알란티카(앤티크 스타일) 중 가장 오래된 헬멧인 이 작품은 네메아의 수사자 머리를 표현하고 있습니다. 르네상스 예술에서 주로 불굴의 힘, 용기, 인내의 상징으로 그려지는 신화 속 영웅 헤라클레스가 이 네메아의 수사자 가죽으로 만든 머리 장식물 및 망토를 착용하였습니다. 헬멧은 4kg 정도 무게이며 살렛이라고 불리는 평범한 강철로 만든 헬멧 위에 반짝이는 구리 표면에 양각으로 정교하게 새긴 사자 머리가 고정되어 있습니다. 이 아름다운 조각품은 초기 르네상스의 뛰어난 금세공 기술을 보여주는 작품들 중 손에 꼽히는 걸작입니다.
