1276년 남송의 수도인 항주가 함락된 후 전선은 유민,즉 송 왕조의 “남겨진 신하”의 삶을 선택하였습니다. 전선이 의고적인 “청록산수” 양식으로 그린 이 두루마리는 전설적인 명성을 지닌 서성이었으며 도교 비술의 전문가이자 거위 목의 우아한 움직임 등과 같은 자연 형태에서 영감을 받아 작품활동을 했다고 전해지는 왕희지(303–361년)의 이야기를 묘사하고 있습니다. 이 화가는 고대를 꿈과 같이 회고하며 회화 공간을 사실적으로 묘사하지 않음으로써 송 왕조 멸망 후 그가 느꼈던 고독감을 표현하고자 하였습니다.
