야인 장식이 있는 주전자
이 주전자 뚜껑에는 곤봉을 휘두르는 수염 난 남자상이 장식되어 있습니다. 이러한 “야인”과 같이 중세 후기 미술과 문학에 등장하는 전설적인 인물은 강한 남성적인 힘을 지녔고 숲에서 원시적인 본능에 따라 살고 있다고 당시 사람들은 생각하였습니다. 이 작품과 쌍을 이루는 또 하나의 주전자는 십자군 원정 중 설립된 군사 및 종교 협회인 독일 기사단의 1526년과 1585년 목록에 기재되었던 것으로 오래 전에 확인되었습니다. 이 두 주전자는 제작 공방 표시가 없지만 뉘른베르크의 금세공인 세바스티안 린데나스트의 작품과 양식적으로 유사하기 때문에 번창했던 도시 뉘른베르크에서 제작되었을 것으로 추정합니다.
