하부가 연꽃 형태인 푸른색 파양스 잔은 일찍이 제18왕조(기원전 1550년경– 1295년경)시기에 존재하였습니다. 기원전 천년까지 풍부하게 장식된 성배로 발전했으며, 일상적인 음주를 위한 용도가 아닌 봉헌물 및 제기로서 사용되었습니다. 이 성배를 장식하고 있는 부조는 태양신의 아이로서의 파라오 탄생과 관련된 신화를 그리고 있습니다. 성배 중앙부의 습지 환경은 매년 한여름에 발생하는 나일강 홍수 후 이집트의 재생을 표현합니다.
