이브닝드레스

1870년대에 자리를 잡은 버슬은 1885년까지 가장 과장된 형태를 취하였습니다. 극단적인 경우, 버슬은 잘록한 허리 부분과 거의 수직을 이루며 당시 응접실의 쿠션만큼 패드를 많이 넣고 장식이 풍부하였습니다. 이러한 버슬의 캔틸레버는 차 도구 전체를 지지할 수 있을 것이라는 유행어가 나돌 정도였습니다. 스커트의 무게를 지탱하기 위해 버슬 패드는 철사, 식물 줄기, 고래뼈로 만든 가볍고 유연성 있는 후프 아래 주로 장착되었습니다. 앉을 때는 후프를 움직여서 접어야 했습니다.
