Этот великолепный этюд костюма также является трогательным портретом Никола Триго, фламандского иезуита, миссионера в Китае. Рубенс, имевший тесные связи с Иезуитским колледжем в Антверпене, сделал рисунок во время визита Триго в город для получения средств и привлечения новых миссионеров.
