This drawing is by the same artist as a sheet of sketches of five male figures in Copenhagen (Statens Museum for Kunst, inv. GB 7071), as noted by Joachim Meyer and Chris Fischer. Whether this artist is to be identified as "Follower of Domenico Gargiulo, called Micco Spadaro" is not certain. The traditional early attribution to Salvator Rosa, annotated on the sheet, is presently mantained until further study.
