هذا الصُّوان ذو المصارع الذي نجد في ظهره ختمَين لقصر فارساي مسجّل في جرد للشّقق الخاصّة بـلويس السّادس عشر جرى ضبطه سنة 1792م. وكان نجّار الأبنوس رولتغن، وهو الحرفيّ المرغوب فيه أكثر من غيره من الحرفيين في القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي بأوروبا، قد صنع لحساب حرفائه من عدد من بقاع العالم، من بينهم عدد كبير من الأمراء الألمان وماري أنطوانيت وكاترين الكبرى إمبراطورة روسيا، قِطَعًا من الأثاث بأشكال مبتكرة ذات مكوّنات آليّة غريبة. أمّا الألواح الثلاثة المرصّعة التي تبدو في الواجهة فهي تجسّم مشاهد مسرحيّة. وتحتلّ اللّوحةَ الوسطى شخصيّاتٌ من كوميديا دي لارتي.
