Ensemble

Designer S. Gluck
1900–1905
Not on view
This stylish three-piece ensemble was produced in Brooklyn. It is fairly unusual to have all three pieces of an ensemble from this period intact. The subtle difference in color between the pongee and lilac embroidery brings out the tonality in an effective way; the light and shadow between materials gives it a lively appearance. This ensemble would have been worn for daytime promenading activities such attending the races or walking on the boardwalk.
