A rich and eye-catching combination of materials make this choker by Yves Saint Laurent a unique piece. The overall scale of the necklace is in keeping with the prevailing style of beaded jewelry during the 1980s, when both necklaces and earrings often reached very large dimensions. The enamel elements, the play of smooth and rough surfaces and the sparkle at edges of the disks all contribute to the overall appeal of this necklace. A mirrored cabochon remaniscent of a crystal ball fascinates the observer when the choker is seen from the front, while the extended beaded end of the piece provides interest at the back of the wearer's neck, a clever means of further accentutating a low-cut bodice or blouse.
