Hat

French

Not on view

Luxurious fur often adorned men's and women's winter hats in the early 20th century. In this high-style example from the period, precise double-topstitching on the crown and deluxe mink trimming indicate that it may be French in origin. These refined details, along with the small brim, suggest it belonged to a dashing man who may have paired it with a fur-lined overcoat for stylish protection from winter weather as he travelled by sleigh or open motorcar.
