Shoe prototype

Following the same approach as the other Lloyd prototypes in the Osgood collection, this design makes a twist on a traditional form by transforming a basic component into a bold focal point. In this instance, the seam between the vamp and quarters is modified to become a decorative element. The designer has cut a deep V-shaped notch into the front line of the quarters, and further accentuated the feature by piping the seam. Although this prototype is unsoled, the seam line is positioned so as to form a continuous line with the heel breast, a further indication of the thoughtfulness and refinement of the design. The chisel toe is advanced for this date, but not unexpected on an Italian design prototype.
