Afternoon dress

ca. 1903
Not on view
This afternoon dress offers an example of an American-made Belle Époque dress created by a New York dressmaker. The Chezar & Pillman label shows the maker styled itself "The Parisian Ladies' Tailor," an indication that this is an American version of the French fashion at the time. The dress is highlighted by several attractive details: the good quality of its embroidery and the inclusion of rhinestone and enamel buttons.
