Dress

1850–55
Not on view
This is a charming child's dress that would have been worn by a boy or a girl. The piece is in original condition and is very well-crafted, as can be seen in the piping detail. Also, the full, puffed sleeves make a fashionable shape. The wool textile itself is very handsome with vibrant saturated colors. Likely, the printed wool was made with indigo dye.
