Dress

ca. 1865
Not on view
This dress, worn by a boy or girl, is made complete with charming and stylish detailing. The sleeves are of a fashionable shape and the bodice is carefully pleated instead of simply being gathered. The alternating pleats in the skirt show the sophisticated level of construction. Finishing the piece, the soutache braid has been stylishly applied, which was also used in adult clothing in the 1860s.
