Pair of three-light wall brackets

French

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 525

The high rococo asymmetry of the swirling branches is datable by the presence of the crowned C stamp. The mark was affixed upon payment of a tax levied on gilt-bronze 1745–1749.
