Terracotta holmos (stand)

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 170

A small version of a popular type of banquet vessel used to mix wine and water and then serve guests. The holmos has two rows of perforations on the base. Ovoid perforations alternate with large bosses on the spherical midsection. The plain flaring top supports an undecorated dinos.
