Terracotta kyathos (cup-shaped ladle)
Between eyes, seated Dionysos
At the handle, maenads with krotala (castanets)
In its shape and function, the kyathos originated in Etruria. During the second half of the sixth century B.C., it was reinterpreted in Attic ceramics workshops and exported to Etruscan clients. The decoration appears to be typically Attic.
