Ichikawa Danjūrō IV as the monk Mongaku stands at the center of this composition. Nakamura Rikō as Chitose is on the left, Nakamura Nakazō I as Sakon-gitsune on the right. The three actors, mimicking the dance of the fox, seem somewhat perturbed by the rats they have attracted.
