View of San Vito with Monte Guadagnolo in the Distance

Heinrich Reinhold German

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 806

The primary version of this view, now in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg, is dated September 11, 1822. This replica was made for Reinhold's sketching companion Johann Joachim Faber. Reinhold made similar copies of his nature studies for other artists and collectors, although sometimes he retained the original and at other times he kept the copy.
