Embroidered Medallion

Not on view

This medallion showing the Evangelist symbol John (an eagle), and its pair depicting Matthew, originally formed a group with two other medallions showing the symbols for Mark and Luke. Their small scale suggests that they may have been attached to a stole (epitrachelion).
