Jewish Ceremonial Wedding Ring
Not on view
This exceptionally rare wedding ring, like the one from the Colmar Treasure, bears witness to the celebration of Jewish marriages in medieval Europe. According to a description from the time, the ring would have been placed on the bride’s index finger during the ceremony. Here, the letters spelling out "mazel tov" are filled with color, giving the object a gemlike and joyful quality.
