Group of 17 mouthpieces (2 w/ cases)
2007.338.1a, b: Mouthpiece for French horn, with wooden container. French type mouthpiece, soldered from thick sheet metal (silver or silver plated brass), and an embouchure ring on top. At a later date, the stem was fitted with a sleeve to make it fit snugly to a wider mouth pipe. There is a small lateral loop for a chain or string. The container of boxwood, approximately in the shape of a cone and to be closed with a screw cap, may be a later addition. Length of the mouthpiece 6.4 cm (2-1/2 in.), bore 11.7 cm ( 4-5/8 in.). Height of the container 9 cm (3-5/8 in.)
