Relief Fragment with Part of an Inscription
Middle Kingdom
The fragment preserves portions of two vertical column of inscription reading from left to right that were part of a group of texts carved in extremely low relief and exquisitely painted. To the left is part of an arm-sign with parts of the hand and the squared end broken away. It is painted with a pinkish color and red outlines. To the right is the squarish bottom of a vertical black line separating the columns. Along the right edge of the fragment is the narrow, curved end of an unidentified sign painted with gray color and a red outline. The hieroglyphs likely originate from inscriptions listing the titles and epithets of the tomb owner that were placed near representations of him. A streak of brownish-red paint is smeared across the fragment, and the background is painted dark gray.
