This wooden door from the monastery of Sevan presents Christ in Glory at the top surrounded by the four beasts of the Apocalypse, who stand above Saint John the Baptist, the Mother of God, Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, and Saint Gregory the Illuminator. In the Pentecost scene below them, the dove of the Holy Spirit descends with God’s message to the twelve seated apostles. A central arch below frames an ensemble of a crowned figure, representing the cosmos, a Parthian-capped figure, and a man with both human and dog faces, flanked by the kneeling patrons Daniel and Nerses. At the base are patterns similar to those found on khachkars. An inscription records the donation of the doors and their manufacture by Abraham and Grigoris.
