Cannon
Not on view
Embellished with hammered and engraved silver foil in a stylized flame motif, this cannon is one of a pair with matching gun carriages that the embassy of Phra Narai presented to Louis XIV. Stored at the Royal Furniture Repository in Paris, the weapons were seized during the Revolution and may have been used during the storming of the Bastille. An exceedingly rare surviving gift, this cannon was recently identified in Great Britain.
