Returned to lender
This work of art was on loan to the museum and has since been returned to its lender.
Found with the elderly male in Grave 1 at Sitio Conte, this small disk features an embossed figure whose silhouette resembles that of a leaping frog. The head and hind limbs, however, have been transformed. The head has crocodilian aspects, such as the diamond-shaped eyes, curled snout, and rows of sharp teeth on the central axis. The hind legs appear as the neck and head of a crested bird with large eyes and a long, curved beak.
