Krippe des Jesuskindes

Miniaturwiegen des Christuskindes waren im 15. und 16. Jhd. beliebte Verehrungsobjekte, besonders in Konventen, wo sie oft die Schwüre von Frauen abnahmen. Diese prächtige Wiege stammt aus dem Grand Béguinage von Louvain in Belgien, das im 12. Jhd. für laiengläubige Frauen gegründet worden war. Beide Enden sind mit Schnitzereien der Geburt Christi und der Verehrung der Magi versehen. Der biblische Familienbaum Christus' ist auf der bestickten Decke illustriert.
