The decoration of vases used in symposia (drinking party) draws liberally on the erotic aspects of these events. The flute girl on the obverse investigates a pointed amphora; her flute case dangles rather provocatively from one leg. Her counterpart on the other side raises a particularly unusual type of kylix.
