Head of a statue of an older man

Old Kingdom

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 103

The small head was probably part of a standing statue with a back pillar. Narrow eyes, the remains of a jutting nose, a seamed face, and broad flat lips make this one of a restricted number of realistic depictions of aged officials from the Old Kingdom.
