Untitled is comprised of a simple sheet of red wax formed into the shape of a square. Like much of Webster’s work, it is both abstract and minimal. The wax is endowed with a rich voluptuousness that appeals to the sense of touch and sight simultaneously. Its simplicity of form and material belies its phenomenological complexity, not to mention its beauty. Overall, the work exemplifies Webster’s reliance on natural materials as well as her debt to both the Earth art and the Minimal movement of the 1960s.
