A Pair of Mynas

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 693

Less naturalistic than the nearby pigeons, these alert mynah birds are placed on an abstracted red background, gazing to the left. The artist captured subtle gestures that bring the birds to life, including the open beak of the male in the background, as he calls out in the distinctive voice of the species, and the bunched claw of the female in the foreground.
