Not on view

This print depicts Arjuna on a chariot, driven by the god Krishna. In the battle of Kurukshetra, in the Mahabharata, Krishna had chosen to be the chariot driver of Arjuna, a Pandava son and one of the main protagonists of the epic. Prior to the battle, a dialogue takes place between Krishna and Arjuna addressing many ethical dilemmas and philosophical issues, which will form the holy scripture, the Bhagavad Gita. At the start of the war, Arjuna is filled with despair about the violence and death that the war will cause. Krishna counsels Arjuna to fulfil his warrior duty to uphold the Dharma. The surrounding frame indicates that the print was hung on a wall.
