Toothpick box in book form, inscribed "H. S. Moore"

On View Gallery Watson Library

These four small boxes with unrelated functions and aesthetics hint at how much the book motif has been historically used. At the top is a fine French silver and enamel card case and a personal rustic horn snuff box with stained scrimshaw designs, of European origin. At the bottom are a luxurious toothpick box of bone or ivory with a gold monogramed plaque, and a colorful straw-work sewing box.
