The hidden lock controlling this box’s sliding cover is activated by pushing down on the upper central spine band, allowing the slide to open upward. Both covers are decorated with applied low-relief carved panels with motifs from nature. Central panels consist of octagonal roundels assembled from cut veneers. The edges are decorated with veneered diaper patterns in various woods. The interior of the box is lined with brightly colored printed velvet.
