Con gran maestría, el autor de esta obra emblemática de la escultura china arcaica consiguió que un objeto estático pareciera estar en movimiento. Infundió fuerza vital a la danzarina de cerámica, captando el instante lleno de tensión en el que lanza una manga hacia atrás, se encorva ligeramente y flexiona las rodillas.
