Marshal Oshin Gospel Book

Armenian

Not on view

A young Archbishop John presents Marshal Oshin, the donor of the nearby Gospel Book, and his sons Kostandin and Hetum to the seated Virgin, who protectively extends her mantle over them. The archbishop’s cope covered with the fleur-de-lis of France reflects the western end of the Cilician dominated trade routes in textiles.
