Ewer
Not on view
Excavated at Ani in 1906, near the south door of the church of Saint Gregory of Gagik, this long-necked ewer has a similar shape and decoration to those found on ewers from Khurasan, Persia. The Arabic inscription reads, "vigor, good fortune, glory, happiness, and wealth." Similar Islamic ewers are depicted in manuscript illuminations, as seen in the Gospel Book by Gregory of Tat‘ev, on view nearby.
