La croce è riccamente scolpita su entrambi i lati e contiene quasi un centinaio di figure ed altrettante iscrizioni. Il complesso disegno, i testi e le vesti di talune figure ne indicano l’esecuzione per un monastero. La narrazione raffigurata nelle formelle quadrate culmina con l’Ascensione di Cristo. Sul retro, alcuni profeti reggono dei rotoli con le loro stesse parole, intese come profezia della Crocifissione. Altre iscrizioni riflettono le dispute teologiche tra Cristiani ed Ebrei. Sia che sia stata concepita per una disputa o sia stata intesa come invettiva, la croce rispecchia il sentimento anti-ebraico in ascesa durante il XII secolo.
