1757年の銘のあるパリで作られたこのコーヒーポットは、同時期の銀器のデザインで最も独創的かつ完成されたものに数えられます。躍動感のある螺旋状の溝彫りが造形に動きを与えており、注ぎ口と蓋にコーヒーの葉と実の図様がふんだんに配されていることから、この作品がコーヒーポットであることが分かります。有名な銀細工師トマ・ジェルマンの息子フランソワ=トマ・ジェルマンは、18世紀後半のパリにおいて最も注目された職人のひとりで、大規模な工房を経営し、ロシアやフランス、ポルトガル王室向けに銀器を製造しました。
