この見事な大皿は、ハンガリーのマーチャーシュ・コルビヌス王(在位1458–90年)が2番目の妻であるアラゴン家のベアトリーチェのために作らせた一式の中の1枚でした。マーチャーシュとアラゴン家の紋章が皿の縁を飾っています。この一式は、ベアトリーチェの従妹のアラゴン家のカミラが注文し、ペーザロで作られたと考えられます。カミラは1475年にコスタンゾ・スフォルツァと結婚し、ペーザロへ移りました。見込みの巧みな絵付けと、縁の精巧な装飾が特徴的なこの作品は、15世紀の最も傑出したマジョリカ陶器の作例のひとつです。
