ヴァレンジュヴィル・ルーム

この部屋の見所である部分的に高浮彫りが施された鏡板(木製パネル)は、18世紀パリの個人宅だったヴァレンジュヴィル邸にあったものです。ヴァレンジュヴィル邸は、当時の面影はほとんど失われたものの、現在でもサンジェルマン通り217番地に所在しています。彩色され金箔が貼られたオーク材の羽目板は、C字形やS字形の曲線模様、花の小枝、ロカイユ模様などで装飾されていますが、モチーフがおおむね対称的であるため、完全なロココ様式とは言えません。トロフィーは音楽、造園、武勇、君主の栄光などを象徴しており、鏡と羽目板の曲線模様が施された鏡や壁板の枠にとまっている首の長い鳥は、当時の異国趣味を反映しています。
