ケルノス

ロクロの発明以前に作られ、真ん中の鉢を25個の容器が取り囲むこのケルノス(複数の供え物を入れる儀式用容器)は、卓越した製陶と焼成の技巧を示しています。ケルノスは有史以前に広く使われていましたが、キクラデス文明以降優品が作られました。種子、穀物、花、果実、または液体などが供えられたと考えられるこのケルノスは、現存する作品の中で最高傑作に数えられます。さらに、先史時代のギリシャ美術の組織的な発掘事業が始まる前の1829 年に発見されたという点でも、特別な作品となっています。
