片口の器を持つひざまずく雄牛
段模様の衣装をまとい、注ぎ口のある器を掲げるこの小さな雄牛の像は、人間と動物の特徴をあわせ持っています。人間のしぐさをする動物の作品は、初期イラン美術に多く見られ、自然の力の象徴、または神話や寓話の主 人公を表していると考えられています。中空の胴の中に小石が入っているこの像は、儀式において鳴物として使われた可能性もあります。発掘された時に布地の破片が付着していたことから、儀式の一環で意図的に埋められたのではないかと思われます。
